In cooperation with the magazines, Fast Food, and RS-Restauranger & Storkök in Sweden, Nordic Sushi Championship are arranging the Best Nordic Japanese Chef of the year in Stockholm on April 25, 2008. Here, professional chefs in the Nordic region will get to show off their skills for five demanding jury members, all with a genuine interest in the Japanese art of food. The Nordic Sushi Championship is the Nordic region’s first joint championship in Japanese cooking for professional chefs. In Sweden, the Swedish Championship in sushi (Sushi SM) has been held for two years in a row. The 2007 champion in Sweden was Pontus Johansson from the restaurant, Sushibaren, in Malmö. He will also be representing Sweden in this year’s Nordic championship.
The first place winner will get the honour of bearing the prestigious title, Best Nordic Japanese Chef of the year, and in addition to winning a trip to Japan and other exciting prizes, will also have the possibility to participate as the Nordic representative in Seven Sushi Samurai, the world championship in sushi for professional chefs, which is held in London each year.
